1. Policy Statement
ARSG strives to safeguard all children engaged through our PE/PPA cover. We are committed to preventing harm and responding swiftly to concerns, embedding safe recruitment, continuous training, and professional supervision. We aim to nurture a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment while maintaining transparency and accountability. This policy aligns with NSPCC and CPSU safeguarding standards.


2. Scope
This policy applies to all ARSG staff, contractors, and volunteers, and all children under 18 accessing ARSG services. It is suitable for use across multiple boroughs, in and outside London.


3. Legal & Statutory Framework
Compliant with Children Act 1989 & 2004, Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, Sexual Offences Act 2003, Equality Act 2010, and UK GDPR.


4. Safeguarding Principles
Child welfare is paramount. Everyone shares safeguarding responsibility. We promote early intervention, multi-agency cooperation, continual improvement, and respectful inclusion.


5. Roles & Responsibilities
DSL (Level 3 trained) leads safeguarding. Deputy DSL supports. Staff must complete annual safeguarding training and hold enhanced DBS checks.


6. Recruitment & Vetting
All coaches must provide Enhanced DBS (with Children’s Barred List), undertake annual safeguarding training, and complete identity and right-to-work checks.


7. Code of Conduct
Maintain professional boundaries, avoid one-to-one unsupervised settings, respect privacy, and follow ARSG and school guidelines.


8. Recognising & Responding
Staff must report any signs of abuse, bullying, radicalisation, or poor practice. DSL handles referrals.


9. Reporting Procedures
1. Record concern.
2. Report to DSL within 24 hours.
3. DSL triages and escalates if needed.
4. Emergency = call 999.
5. NSPCC Professionals: 0808 800 5002.


10. Confidentiality & Data Protection
Data stored securely. Shared only on a need-to-know basis per UK GDPR.


11. Training
DSL = Level 3 every 2 years. Staff = annual safeguarding refreshers.


12. Policy Review
Reviewed annually or following an incident. DSL oversees updates. Training and incident logs reviewed.

Includes: Code of Conduct, Prevent Policy, Safer Recruitment Policy, Incident Reporting Form, Online Safety Guidance, NSPCC/CPSU resources.
